Songs

Teaching these kiddos a few different songs was one of my favorite parts of these five weeks! They were very eager to learn them and caught on quickly!

You may have heard your child sing - The Dragon Song!

This song isn't quite as polished as the dragon song, but still super cute - Sing!

I wish you all a fantastic summer, thank you for sharing your wonderful children with me these past weeks!

Today Mrs. Darby's third-grade class came in to read us their fairytale stories!  They were beautifully written and illustrated books! We were amazing listeners!!

3-d Shapes

Our last unit in math has been all about 3-d shapes.  We have used geoblocks, legos, books on great architecture, and how to draw 3-d shape guides to explore these concepts.

We had a fun day today! A dancing crayon (aka, Mr. White) came in to talk about "his" book The Day the Crayons Quit.  We all decorated a crayon headband and wore them proudly all day! We had some time to write a letter from our crayon characters to ourselves - If that makes sense??

Realistic fiction stories published!!

Wow, what a fun and busy week we have had!!  I wanted to share the excitement around our writing time this week!  We have finally finished our realistic fictional stories!  We made covers with our title and author names.  We also had a fun idea to make an "about the author" page!  Hudson was so generous to bring in his awesome camera that processed pictures right on the spot - remember those?  Everyone was so excited to have their picture taken by Hudson and most added it to their back page, where they told us about the author! They look great - check out the slideshow below!

Reader's Theater

The students were so excited to be practicing their parts today- some could not sit in their seats because they were getting into character so well!!  We are learning to add expression in our voices and bodies!  Tomorrow we will practice in front of each other!

Spider web greeting

We began our morning with a spider web greeting! We passed around the "web," aka a ball of yarn to friends to say good morning to them.  Look closely to see our web!

Happy Monday! Just two more Monday's left of school!

Our survey unit in math

This week we discussed what a survey was? What a survey could tell us? How we find out how many people took the survey? The students paired up and created a survey question that they would ask their classmates.  They needed to work as a team and decide who would do what part: the asking & the writing.  This was a great opportunity to work on our collaborating skills.  When the planning was completed the room was a buzzing hive of bees!

*We had a super busy day and all did so well being flexible with our crazy schedule!  We all loved seeing Ms. Purvee today, she was showered with love and hugs!!  Move up day seemed to go well, too.

I hope you all have a great weekend!!
