Over the past couple of weeks first graders have been leaning about correct pencil grip as well as capital letter formation. They learned that there are three types of capital letters: Frog Jump letters, Corner Start letters, and Center Start letters. They also have been answering this question a lot: Where do you start your letters?? (Answer: At the top!! Ask them about our song!!)
They have been putting their letter formation skills to good use during our writing workshop. We continue to work on Small Moment stories (personal narratives) and this week they learned about adding more details to their pictures to help them add more details to their words.
