First Graders have finished their animal research teaching books.  As a culminating activity and celebration of our hard work we also created a VoiceThread where students shared some of their favorite facts about their animal.

Continuing Our Animal Research

First graders are continuing to work hard researching their animals and collecting a multitude of interesting facts!  As they collect their facts, they are writing and creating their own nonfiction teaching books.  The books are organized into different sections or chapters, and they are incorporating some of the nonfiction text features that we have been learning about during our reading block. 

More Fractions

We continued our learning about fractions today by exploring fourths. 

Fractions

First graders have begun learning about fractions!  The first lesson focused on what a fraction is, and students explored the concept of half by designing "half and half" pizzas.
