Last Day Fun!!!
Our last day of first grade was bittersweet! So exciting to start summer vacation and to move on to second grade, but so hard to say goodbye to all of our wonderful friends and classmates!! I hope to see many "visitors" to our room next year!

Making Beads
First graders started the process of making friendship necklaces this past Friday. They each rolled, shaped and put holes through 17 beads. On Monday they will decorate them, and on Tuesday, our last day together in first grade, they will give each of their classmates one of their beads. They will each then string them together to make their friendship necklace.

Show Me the Money!
First graders are creating their very own money flip booklets! Each coin is highlighted with its own page telling how much it is worth and how many it takes (of that coin) to make one dollar.
Plants Do Need Light!
We did our final observation of our plants experiment and our verdict is... Plants do need light to grow and thrive! After three weeks of giving one plant everything it needs to thrive, and one plant everything EXCEPT light, we could see a big difference in how our two plants looked. We all felt badly "hurting" one of our plants, but it's all in the name of science!!

We Were Convinced!
First graders were very successful at convincing each other to try or do something new because they write such convincing opinion pieces! They listened to many of their friends pieces of writing, and then wrote about at least one piece that really convinced them to try something.
