Highlights of Our Second Week!

It was a busy week here in First Grade!  We started learning about and working on many different things this week!  Here are some of the highlights:

We spent some time each day learning about Social Cognition and how our actions can have an impact on others around us.  We read multiple books about concepts such as "Thinking Thoughts and Feeling Feelings", "The Group Plan", "Whole Body Listening" and "Body in the Group" and Thinking With Your Eyes".   We did some fun activities to accompany the books.

Practicing the Group Plan with block town building.

We learned about Whole Body Listening and Keeping Our Body in the Group.

We learned about our thoughts and feelings, and how our words and actions can have an effect on other people around us.

We learned about Thinking With Our Eyes and played a game to practice this!

We practiced writing and spelling our names in a variety of fun ways.

We visited some of our outdoor classrooms and started learning about expectations while we are using them.  Before we went outside we watched a story online about the importance of respecting nature, which was a great way to kickstart our conversation about expectations.

We did a variety of math activities which included a lot of counting and teen numbers practice.

And we began learning about Monarch Butterflies by focusing on the egg and the caterpillar stages.  A huge thank you to Lila and her family for finding and sending in a caterpillar!  It is so fun to observe a live one!  We would love to have a few more if anyone else is able to find any!!
