Highlights from the Week of May 31, 2022
It is hard to believe that we are down to only one week left of the school year! It is bittersweet for sure! This is such a great group of kiddos and I have been so fortunate to have had them for their first-grade year!
We packed a lot of learning and fun into this four-day week!
This week we:
Practiced making predictions while reading Kevin Henkes’ book, Owen
Focused on the character’s feelings and how they can change throughout a styory while reading another of Kevin Henkes’ books, Lily’s Purple Plastic Purse
Went to a Vermont Symphony Orchestra performance and learned a little about sound waves while enjoying some wonderful music
Continued to work on writing our book reviews
Had an All School Morning Meeting where we learned about the Summer Reading Program at the Richmond Free Library - I hope you all take advantage of this great program!
Had Field Day!
Had our last Guidance session with Ms. Spaulding and reflected on the year and some of our favorite memories of First Grade
Did more practice with contractions during Word Study time
Did more activities around place value during math
Reflected on our Hopes and Dreams that we wrote for First Grade way back in the beginning of the year
We are all looking forward to a wonderful last week of school next week! We will spend time celebrating our accomplishments, our memories, and our friendships made along the way.
Don’t forget the Powder Run on Tuesday, June 7!
