Reading to Self

This morning in first-grade students learned all that is involved in reading to self during our Reading Workshop.  We are just starting to launch our workshop and began by learning about the absolute most important thing that we need to do to grow in our reading... READ!!!  An important part of this is building our stamina for independent reading, so today we started seeing what our stamina is at this point in the new school year.  Well, these kiddos blew me away!  We did a few different attempts and timed ourselves.  With each new attempt, we broke our previous record for time reading!  Wow!  This is a class of amazing readers!!
