Writing "All About..." Books

First graders have started learning how to write "All About..." books in our nonfiction writing unit.  Today they focused on coming up with ideas for things that they already know a lot about and could, therefore, teach to others.  After brainstorming their ideas, it was time to choose one to start making a planning web for.  We decided that in order to write a teaching book about something, you should be able to come up with at least five different ideas or sections that you could write and teach about. 
They all did a great job coming up with some creative ideas for their books!!
