Hard Work on a Hot Day

Despite the warm temperatures today First graders accomplished a lot do hard work!!  We worked on our counting and adding skills by playing a game called Collect 20 in math.

We started out Readers Workshop during our literacy block by learning about and practicing "Read to Self".  First graders learned what stamina means, and we will begin charting our stamina while reading independently.  

At the end of the day first graders started learning about writing "small moments".  "Small Moments" are personal narratives that focus on one "small moment" from their lives.  I can already tell that we have a room full of wonderful writers!!  No one wanted to stop!
