First Graders keep getting more and more into the swing of things here at school! We had another great week of learning and getting to know each other better and better!
Our Greeting this week:
We had a great start to our Writing Workshop. We began our first unit called Small Moments which is all about writing personal narratives. We read a great story about finding "stories" all around us in our every day lives. Then we did some brainstorming of ideas that we could each write about. Finally, we all got to try writing our first small moment story!
First Graders enjoyed a new math game this week, Double Compare!
We learned about taking a "sneak peek" before reading a book to get us thinking about what the story might be about, and then checking our "sneak peek" throughout the story. We also discovered that we can make text-to-self connections while reading - and it's fun to share those with others!
We continued learning about social thinking and social skills. We read books about "thinking with your eyes" and "keeping your body in the group". We did some fun activities to practice those skills.
It was a fantastic week and we look forward to our next week filled with more learning and fun!
