Highlights from the Week of March 7, 2022
The theme of our week seemed to be kindness! We continued to learn about the importance of showing kindness to others and how to keep filling each other’s invisible buckets. As a class, we are focusing on one “kindness snippet” each day and checking in about it at the end of the day to see how we did. So far we have focused on the following three: make someone smile, give someone a compliment, and be encouraging. The students are all doing great with this!
We also:
Learned about blends during our word study time (for example: bl, sm, tw, gr,...)
Played math games to practice our partners to 10 facts and started learning our partners to 20 facts
Read more books about kindness, the importance of it, and made a “kindness tree” to share our ideas out
Continued to work on our reading strategies and what to do when we come to tricky and unknown words - we are the BOSS of our own reading!
Wrote the introduction page for our animal research books
Had our first Health lesson with Nurse Hadley and learned about germs
Learned 8 new snap words
Spent some time in our outdoor classrooms, learned some interesting facts about trees, and made some tree friends!
Painted and created kindness hearts with positive messages to hang in our school entryway to spread kindness with our entire school community (we will hang next week!)
Earned our “Extra Snack and Story” reward for expected behavior and had a Mystery Guest Reader: Mr. Rector!!
