Adventures from the week of March 21, 2022
Spring has sprung! We could feel it in the air and in the energy in our classroom this past week! Our week was full of fun and learning as usual!!
Some of the things we did were:
Celebrated the beginning of spring with a “Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring” project
Learned that blends can come at the end of words, too
Played some fun games to practice ending blends, including a version of Connect Four
Worked on addition problems with 3 addends, and practiced looking for tens facts or doubles facts to add together first
Worked on 10 + problems (10+1 - 10+9) and noticed helpful patterns
Visited the cafeteria and went over expectations and procedures to get ready for our first lunch experience in there next week
Did a science investigation that focused on the concept of biomimicry - using ideas from nature, specifically trees, students designed umbrellas that would not get blown over by the wind! They designed various paper umbrellas and tested them out!
Had our last health lesson with Nurse Hadley and learned about dental health
Reviewed how to do partner reading, and learned some new prompts for talking about the text with our partners
We read this poem and then wrote our own version
visiting the cafeteria!
We are able to do partner reading again!
practicing being trees, waving our branches in the wind
