Thinking With Your Eyes
Part of setting up our classroom community involves many lessons and activities around social cognition, social skills and expected behavior. So far we have spent a lot of time reviewing and learning more about Whole Body Listening and Thinking With Your Eyes. Who knew you could tell a lot about what someone is thinking about by looking at their eyes?! Students played a fun game trying to figure out what I was thinking about by looking at my eyes, and the pretend arrows coming from them! This lead into a nice discussion about not only paying attention to others' eyes, but also their expressions in general. After naming many different emotions and feelings, students used playdoh to create one (their choice) while the rest of the group was challenged to try and figure out which one was being portrayed.
