Measuring Animal Jumps

The most recent measuring adventure in our classroom involved measuring the jumps of six different animals, including a 6 1/2 year old boy's jump!  First graders all used the same unit of measurement - craft sticks.  After partners completed all of the measuring they had to list the animal jumps in order from longest to shortest.  This lead to a great discussion about whether or not everyone should have gotten the same results or not!
