Farms Day 1

Today first graders met Miss Virginia who will be visiting our classrooms five times over the next month. She is able to come to us through a grant via the Vermont Dairy Council.  Each time she visits us we will learn about a different type of farm, and taste some kind of food that comes from that farm. Today students learned about milk makers: cows and goats. We turned two students into those animals and learned about their special "milk making" parts. Finally, students made butter that they got to sample!  Yum!!
Some questions you could ask your first grader:  How many stomachs does a cow have?  How many does a goat have?  Which kind of cow makes the most milk?  Which kind of cow makes the creamiest milk?  How much food does a cow eat in a day?  How much water do they drink?
