Learning From Characters
Over the past week or so we read a few books that leant themselves to some amazing and rich conversations! We met some characters in these books that we realized had a lot in common with each other. Each character, in their own way, was made to feel badly about themselves because other people thought they were doing something that they shouldn't like to, or want to do. We realized that the characters were brave, confident and stayed true to themselves. We compared two of the character, Oliver Button and Amazing Grace using a Venn Diagram. Let me tell you, these first graders are very smart, observant, and deep thinkers!! We had a wonderful conversation and realized that we can learn some important lessons from the characters in our books, and that we can use them in our own lives to be better people!
